A MOTORCYCLIST who crashed into another vehicle causing it to burst into flames in the middle of the road has been disqualified from driving.
Graham John Grears was driving a Yamaha motorcycle on the A595 Distington bypass on July 3 when he crashed into the rear of another vehicle causing damage.
The other driver also sustain a head injury as a result.
He faced a charge of driving without due care and attention, one of driving without a valid licence and one of driving without a valid policy of insurance.
All three were proved by single justice procedure on January 22.
Grears, of Woodhouse Road in Whitehaven, was sentenced on February 6 at Carlisle's magistrates' court.
The 30-year-old was fined £660, told to pay a surcharge of £66 to fund victim services and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Grears was disqualified from driving for 12 months and had nine penalty points added to his licence.
