A NEW reading space has been opened on the grounds of Dearham Primary School and it has been called “a whole community effort.”

The Reading Shed will be open at break times and for daily reading sessions. It was made possible by funds from the community. Donations were made by the ‘Friends of Dearham School’ group and the late Anne Mitchell in her will. Mrs Mitchell lived in the village near to the school.

Headteacher Lindsay Walker said: “The importance of outdoor play and provision for children can not be underestimated, it’s vital that children have stimulating play and learning activities both indoors and outdoors from nursery to year six. The reading shed offers children the chance to take their love of reading outdoors.”
