A DONATION has been made to a worthy cause, celebrating a safe working milestone at Sellafield Limited.
More than 1.8 million hours of safe working has been completed across the organisation’s major projects.
And they decided to mark the milestone with a donation in memory of a former colleague.
Mark Sarrington, head of environment, health and safety and quality in project delivery at Sellafield said: “Our colleague Tommy Dougan sadly passed away in the summer, he was very well regarded so we thought it would be a nice idea to speak to his family and ask them which deserving cause they would like to see benefit.”
Tommy Dougan, who lived in Whitehaven, worked as a safety advisor on-site for Sellafield Limited, he died in summer 2019 and his family chose Hospice at Home West Cumbria for the donation of £500.
Mr Dougan’s son Marc who works at Sellafield in the vitrification plant, said: “The hospice really helped a great deal when my dad was in the nursing home, the support they gave us was second to none. Thanks for this very kind gesture, it really means a lot and it shows how well my dad was thought of.”
