A SONGWRITER who has recently released his debut single, is set to perform at the first Keekle Village Hall music night of the year.

Indie rock singer-songwriter, Aaron Spencer from Whitehaven will perform at Keekle Village Hall, Cleator Moor on Friday February 7.

He will be supporting headline act, singer Steve Byrne aka Just Steve. Vocalist India Rose will also perform in a support slot.

Music nights at the village hall are aimed at making the most of the venue which at one time was disused.

The hall was refurbished in December and January with new windows, outside lighting and insulation have been fitted with repairs to the roof.

Aaron has been writing music since the age of 18 and almost a year ago he decided to share his music with the public, performing at open mic nights in the area.

He soon progressed to paid gigs and recently released Sticky Dancefloor, an indie-rock tune inspired by his experiences growing up in the North West.

He said: “The way that first song has gone, it has encouraged me to focus on my own music.”

His musical style has been compared to The Strokes, The Courteeners and Artic Monkeys.

A launch party was held at the Yellow Earl when the single was released on January 17, with live music from the band and support act Eve Westwood.

Doors open at 7pm and the public are encouraged to bring their own drinks.

Tickets cost £5.00 and are available from the Keekle Inn Pub, on the door or from Ivor Fee on 07546558408. Under eighteens are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
