A HOME near Swarthmoor has been given a remarkable facelift.
The render on the property at Birkrigg Park was covered in bacterial biofilm - microorganisms that can grow on surfaces.
The homeowner contacted South Lakes Soft Wash to deal with the bacteria and a series of incredible pictures showing before and after the treatment were shared on Twitter.
Bacteria will stick to almost any surface in aqueous conditions and biofilms adhere to human-made materials such as ship hulls, cooling towers, sewage treatment plants and household plumbing.
