A drink-driver has been banned from the roads for 14 months.

Dale James Jakobowski, 23, of Newbiggin Cottages, Waberthwaite, pleaded guilty at West Cumbria Magistrates Court on Friday.

The court heard Jakobowski was driving a Toyota Aygo on Gosforth Road on December 21 last year, when the offence happened.

He was found to have 49mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Jakobowski was also fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

If he successfully completes a drink-driver rehabilitation course he could see his ban reduced by 14 weeks.
