MEMBERS of a well-known weight loss group lost over 7,000 stone last year.

Slimming World members in Carlisle, Wilton and Silloth shed a staggering 7,348 stone in 2019 which is just over the weight of seven T-Rex dinosaurs.

Andrea Brough, Slimming World consultant for Penrith, explained: "Obesity in Carlisle is at an all time high.

"Nearly two out of three adults under the age of 65 in Cumbria are overweight or obese. Obesity has more than doubled in the last 20 years. The proportion of men with an obese BMI has risen from eight percent to 26 percent, which the proportion of women has risen from 13 percent to 21 percent.

"The demand for a healthy weight loss programme that offers real solutions to individuals, families and whole communities through a supportive approach based on sound principles has never been greater."

There are 34 Slimming World groups in the area run by 13 consultants who have helped support members to collectively lose an eye-watering 7,348 stone.

"Our generous eating plan makes slimming easier than you ever thought possible," added Mrs Brough.

"Instead of telling you what you can and can't eat, you're in control."
