A MOTORIST has been disqualified from driving after being over the legal drink drive limit and having no insurance.

Edward George Faulder, 27, of Irthington, near Carlisle was charged with driving a motor vehicle when above the legal alcohol limit and using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.

He pleaded guilty to both offences.

Faulder had 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The court heard on Tuesday how Faulder - who had been drinking - later called a taxi to take him to where his car was parked.

He then drove his car home where he ended up in a ditch facing the wrong way and left the scene on December 23.

Officers attended his home address the following morning at 7.05am, where Faulder was arrested and taken into custody.

He has been banned from driving for 16 months.

Magistrates offered him the drink-drivers’ rehabilitation course which will - if completed - reduce the ban by 16 weeks. He must complete the course by November 21.

Faulder was also fined £592. No financial penalty was given for driving with no insurance.
