Welsh musician Gruff Rhys will be performing at Threlkeld Village Hall on Saturday, February 1.

Rhys is well known as the singer and songwriter for the band Super Furry Animals, which produced nine albums since forming in Cardiff in 1993

He released his first solo album in 2005, playing most of the instruments himself.

His third album, Hotel Shampoo, won the Artrocker Album of the Year award and the Welsh Music Prize in 2011. Also that year Rhys joined the Manic Street Preachers on stage during the band’s 38-song A Night of National Treasures one-off live event at the O2 Arena in London to provide the lead vocals for the song Let Robeson Sing.

In 2018 he released Babelsberg, which was recorded with the 72-piece BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

The gig at Threlkeld, near Keswick, starts at 8pm.
