A holiday cottage company owner is reflecting on a successful year.

Sally Fielding, who founded Sally’s Cottages in Eskdale 16 years ago, said 2019 had seen a number of successes.

This included opening a new office in Windermere in addition to the company's original branch in Keswick.

The company has also worked closely with local businesses such as the Alhambra Cinema, Keswick Adventures and Hawkshead Chocolate Factory to promote the attractions to visitors.

Sally said the year was topped off by a gold win at the nationally renowned British Travel Awards.

“We’ve had another really positive year,” said Sally.

"We’re so happy to be able to continue sharing this beautiful region with visitors whilst being a big part of a community that works together and supports one another. The start of a new decade promises lots more exciting opportunities and plans and we’re looking forward to what 2020 brings.”

This year has also seen the company grow its social media presence and it now has over 600,000 followers on Facebook and 30,000 Instagram followers.

In 2019 it also created a Facebook group to celebrate people's moments of happiness, including those at its properties and in the Lake District.

It has also used its Twitter following of 12,000 to promote local events and has supported a number of local charities and community groups throughout the year. These include the Cumbrian Cricket U15 team, Cumbria Community Foundation, Rotary and CFM’s Cash for Kids.
