A West Cumbrian organisation has been recognised for the work it does to support its employees.

Energus at Lillyhall, near Workington, won the Learning and Development Award from Investors in People.

Megan Nicholson represented Energus at the awards. Megan joined Energus in 2012, aged 16, as a business administration apprentice and this year she graduated with a business management degree.

Adrienne Easterbrook, general manager of Energus, said: "Energus is passionate about developing the team and put emphasis on development across the board, from senior leaders to apprentices.

"Many key members of the team have been developed professionally, including myself. In my role it is important to lead by example and give people the opportunities for them to develop themselves professionally.

"Energus is a small team who achieve big things. We have 28 core staff and over 100 learners, therefore learning and development is at the very heart of what we do."

Megan said: "The learning and development strategy has impacted massively on me. Without the continued support and guidance from Energus, this wouldn’t have been possible."

Mike Barber, Energus chairman, added: "The Energus team have a genuine commitment to developing the capability of all their people. I am delighted that this award recognises their hard work."

Energus was also a Best Apprenticeship Programme finalist at the awards.
