CRASH: Police are on the scene
THE A595 is closed after a crash involving four vehicles.
The road is shut southbound between the A597 near Distington and the B5306 at Howgate.
A spokesman from Highways England said emergency services including Cumbria Police are in attendance.
Traffic is being diverted along the B5306.
Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journey, and plan an alternative route.
No time has been released as to when the road will reopen.
