A 10-YEAR-OLD boy has received a new bike thanks to the generosity of the community after his previous one was stolen and burned.

Klayden Wright, from Millom had spent a lot of time out and about on his bicycle until it was taken from his shed.

Mark Winterborne who works in Halfords in Leeds saw the post on social media and responded by giving up his 50 per cent discount to get a cheaper option for those funding a new bicycle.

Klayden was planning on using his own money as well as his birthday money to buy himself a new one.

In a video posted on social media, he said: “Thank you everyone for helping me to get a new bike, and a big thank you to Mark from Halfords for delivering my bike.”

Carla Aston, Klayden’s auntie, said: “It was such a kind and generous gesture from Mark to use his own personal staff discount, we cannot thank him enough.

“It’s been hard to find the right words to express how grateful we are to those who donated towards a new bike for Klayden.

“We were asking for information to find the person who did this and caused so much upset to a 10-year-old boy, especially so close to Christmas.

“When Tammy Thompson messaged and asked if she could start a collection to help pay towards it we were shocked but extremely grateful.

“We live in an amazing town with some truly wonderful people and I cannot thank them enough for what they’ve done for my sister and nephew, it’s been overwhelming for us all.

“We got donations from: Tammy Thompson (main organiser with some help from Combe lottery), Kelly & John French (Harvest Bakery), Carolyn Thompson, Peter Hodgson, Blades Barbers, and Jenn Jakubowski from Combe lottery.”
