Travel delays and power losses are likely - as the county braces for very strong winds.
The Met Office issued a severe yellow weather warning for strong winds, which came into play at 5am today.
It will cover the whole of Cumbria and will expire at 5pm.
The forecaster is warning of:
Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely;
Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer, made worse by spray and surface water;
Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely;
Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.
Winds gusts of 50-60mph are expected inland, with 60-70mph in some coastal areas and on higher ground.
