With only two rounds to play before the festive break, every point matters in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League as the 12 teams look to end their year on a high.

League leaders Chelsea will put their unbeaten run on the line against Manchester City while Bristol City welcome fellow strugglers Birmingham City in a high-stakes basement battle.

But while the table has now taken shape, there is still everything to play for and plenty of drama yet to unfold as we near the halfway stage of this Women’s Super League season.

And with another fascinating round of fixtures in store this weekend, which sees rivalries renewed and reputations put on the line, here’s a look at everything you need to know.

Chelsea v Manchester City

Sunday, KO 12pm, The Cherry Red Records Stadium – Live on BT Sport 3

After last weekend’s match with Everton was postponed because of a frozen pitch in Southport, Chelsea were knocked off top spot for the first time since October.

And as they welcome second-placed Manchester City to Kingsmeadow on Sunday, Emma Hayes’ unbeaten side sit two points behind the visitors – albeit with a game in hand.

Both teams also boast impressive league form going into their latest dust-up, with City winning three on the bounce while Chelsea have five straight victories to their name.

Although it’s too early to say that it’s a title-decider, City would certainly not turn their noses up at the chance to open a five-point gap over Chelsea this early in the campaign.

Manchester United v Everton

Sunday, KO 12pm, Leigh Sports Village Stadium

This will be the third time Everton and Manchester United have met, and the Toffees are still searching for their first goal, never mind first win against Casey Stoney’s side.

Both of their previous meetings ended in 3-0 defeats for the Everton, including the latest showdown just five weeks ago in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup group stages.

In fact, United have one of the best defences in the competition, with only six goals conceded all season, but the Red Devils are coming off the back of an uncharacteristic 3-2 defeat to West Ham.

It was the first time they have conceded more than once in a WSL match and with Everton’s Chloe Kelly scoring two in her last three, the visitors will be hoping to make it third time lucky.

Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion

Sunday, KO 2pm, The Hive Stadium

Kit Graham came to Tottenham Hotspur’s rescue last time out as her second-half diving header ensured her side came away from Birmingham City with a valuable point.

Spurs are without a win in the WSL since they beat Bristol City 2-1 at the end of October but they fancy their chances against an inconsistent Brighton & Hove Albion side.

Hope Powell’s side are currently four points and two places behind Spurs, having been held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Reading in their last game at The People’s Pension Stadium.

Remi Allen scored with the last kick of the game to deny Brighton just their second league win of the campaign and Powell will be keen to build on that result at The Hive.

Liverpool v West Ham United

Sunday, KO 2pm, Prenton Park

This one is simple. Liverpool need to start scoring goals very soon – although they would gladly take a repeat of last season’s hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham at Prenton Park.

Melissa Lawley’s effort in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City in October is still the only time Liverpool have found the net in the league all season. That means they’re currently on course to level Yeovil’s infamous haul of two goals from 18 games in 2017/18.

Three consecutive 1-0 league defeats to Manchester City, Arsenal and rivals Everton show they are capable of competing but you can’t win games if you can’t score goals.

This weekend could be one of their best chances of a goal glut, as West Ham come to town. The Hammers have conceded the second most goals in the league this season with 18.

The only downside is as well as conceding they’re also scoring, with Matt Beard’s side only failing to score in two games in the league so far.

Reading v Arsenal

Sunday, KO 2.30pm, Adams Park

There aren’t many more superlatives to use about Vivianne Miedema.

The Arsenal striker has been in a class of her own in the past two seasons, and after banging in six against Bristol City last weekend, she certainly doesn’t seem to be lowering her standards.

The 11-1 scoreline at Meadow Park was the biggest victory ever seen in the WSL, and with the Dutch striker in red-hot form, we can expect goals again as they travel to Reading.

The Royals have conceded at least twice in each of their last three league games and haven’t kept a domestic clean sheet since a 1-0 victory over Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

Manager Kelly Chambers will have her work cut out to restrain a Gunners’ side that have scored 30 goals in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Bristol City v Birmingham City

Sunday, KO 3pm, Stoke Gifford Stadium

If there were any positives to take out of their humiliation at the hands of Arsenal last weekend for Bristol City, it must surely be that things can’t get any worse.

Still without a win this campaign, second-bottom Robins have the perfect chance to put the mauling at Meadow Park behind them, as they welcome Birmingham to Ashton Gate.

The visitors are a place and a point better off going into this one, and with both sides out of form, this would be the perfect opportunity for Tanya Oxtoby’s side to get their first win.

History suggests the first goal will be key in what is likely to be a nervy-encounter, with the last three meetings between the sides being won by a single goal to nil.
