PLANS have been revealed for a new festival for Whitehaven.

Whitehaven Community Trust has launched an appeal for help with the event, set to take place in June 2021.

It will feature businesses and resources from the area, showing off the town’s harbour front.

The community trust is collaborating with Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners on the project.

Chief executive Kerry Maxwell said: “We want to throw an amazing festival which includes all local businesses and organisations to come together and celebrate our community.”

The one-day event will offer live bands, sailing and diving activities on the water, dance troupes, food stalls and fair rides.

Celia Mackenzie, chief executive of Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners, said Kerry and her team were “more than capable” of pulling together a true community event and she was delighted that the trust wanted to use the harbour as the location for the “fun festival”.

The community festival is designed to be by the town and for the town.
