Maryport coastguard was called out to an emergecy which saw a person pulled out of the water by police officers.
Once they got to scene, at Whitehaven harbour, the casualty had been recovered from the water by members of Cumbria Police.
A spokesman for Whitehaven Coastguard said: "The casualty was handed over to the North West Ambulance Service, wet but otherwise ok."
