Police are warning people in Cumbria to be vigilant after receiving reports of scam letters being circulated in the area.
Cumbria Police have posted a warning on social media about recent letters received from someone claiming to be representing Action Fraud.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police wrote: "Action Fraud will never ask you to transfer money out of your account.
"If you feel uncomfortable or unsure about what you’re being asked to do when receiving calls, emails or letters from any companies, never hesitate to contact your bank or financial service provider directly, using a number you trust.
"If you think you have been a victim of fraud, report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040."
