AN APPEAL for information has been released with CCTV images after a life-saving defibrillator was stolen in Cleator Moor.

The defibrillator was stolen from outside the West Cumbrian town's Civic Hall.

Images have been released of the culprit as Cumbria Police appeal for more information.

A representative for Cumbria Police said: "The defibrillator is distinctive and police are asking for the public’s help to recover the item, which has been provided for the benefit of the local community in Cleator Moor."

In an appeal for information on the incident which happened in Market Sqaure, PC Holt said: "This defibrillator was purchased via fundraising for the benefit of the local community at a time of urgent need, as the area had no such provision before."

PC Holt said: "These machines are a vital resource and can make the difference between life and death.

"The person who took this item has given no thought to the safety of others in their community."
