Leaders from SMEs, primary education and the third sector in West Cumbria are urged to apply for a bursary to take part in a leadership development programme.

OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd and the Centre for Leadership Performance are offering the full bursary for people interested in joining the Leader to Leader programme.

The eight-month programme is aimed at senior leaders who want to improve their leadership capability.

The course is run by a local not-for-profit The Centre for Leadership Performance.

Four small business leaders, two primary school leaders and two third sector leaders will benefit from the bursaries.

It is the third year bursaries are being made available by OneAIM, a joint venture between Interserve and Wood, Sellafield Ltd and the centre.

Applications are open until October 31.

The organisations said: "Leadership is important in all organisations. OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd and the Centre for Leadership Performanc recognise that the cost of the programme can be a barrier for smaller organisations who want to develop their leadership capability.

"Small businesses, education and the third sector have a valuable role to play in the success of the local economy and our local communities.

"We are therefore offering bursaries to widen participation in leadership development and encourage the collaboration of organisations in the local economy."

Luke Richardson, social impact manager for OneAIM, said: “Leadership development is really important for any organisation, we take it very seriously in our business.

"As part of our social impact plan we wanted to help local organisations grow, develop and to become more resilient.

“This is our third year of running the scheme. The interesting thing is that those applying don’t need to part of our supply chain or have any link to OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd or the centre. If you are a leader of a small business of any sector, a primary school or third sector organisation in Copeland or Allerdale then you can apply.”
