A holistic event in West Cumbria raised over £1,200 to help children in the area.

More than 250 people attended Sacred Haven's holistic mind, body and spirit event at the Ennerdale Country House Hotel in Cleator at the weekend.

With more than 45 stalls, people got to find out more about holistic therapies, including mindfulness, yoga and reflexology.

The day, organised by Emma Summerfield, raised £1,243 for CFM Cash For Kids thanks to entry fees and raffles.

Emma, a jewellery designer who owns Moon Dream Jewellery based in Cleator, said: "It was a wonderful day.

"We wanted the local community to come and really feel the benefit of what we were doing.

"The event was starting at 10am and at 9.45 we had people queuing outside and then a steady stream of people throughout the day.

"I think people are feeling they would like to explore new ways of combatting everyday stress and want to find alternative therapies." Emma is already planning next years' events at the hotel on March 15 and October 4.

But she is also considering organising smaller events at different venues in West Cumbria.

She said: "Not many people have the opportunity to travel to this type of events, there are many in Scotland, Cheshire and Lancashire. But I also think it's nice to keep it in West Cumbria and spread it around different venues."

Emma added her chosen charity would remain CFM Cash For Kids for future events.

She said: "I've got two little girls myself and I try to put myself in other people's shoes.

"I feel for people who don't have that same blessing, it's really nice to help out other families and the money does stay in Cumbria, you can see first hand the effect of the money in our community.

"It truly was a blessing to see so many lovely happy smiling people enjoying a really relaxing, nurturing and fantastic fundraising day out.

"I feel so proud of our local community coming together and helping to raise such amazing amount of £1,243 for our wonderful charity, CFM Cash for Kids."
