A man accused of murder has appeared in court.
Patrick Gordon Webster, 62, appeared at the magistrates court in Workington via video link from HMP Durham this morning.
Webster, who was wearing a short sleeved blue shirt and glasses, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
The court heard the charge relates to an incident on September 24 in Keswick, following which Katrina Fletcher died in Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary.
Pam Fee, prosecuting, said the case could only be dealt with by the crown court due to its seriousness.
Webster, who was represented by Mike Pope, was remanded in custody until his appearance at Carlisle Crown Court on Monday, October 14.
