Athletes are getting ready to Storm the Castle this weekend.
On Saturday, Born Survivor comes to Lowther Castle near Penrith where the brave and foolhardy can challenge themselves against an ultimate military-style cross-country obstacle course, with natural and man-made obstacles.
The 12k course is devised and run by former members of the Royal Marines and is now the leading event of its kind in the county.
Ex-marine Rob Partington now holds the reins. He said: “People can walk away after completing the course with a massive feeling of pride and achievement, as well as a finisher’s Storm The Castle t-shirt and medal.”
Contestants will set off from 10am on Saturday and there is plenty of local interest.
Whitehaven woman Sarah Doyle and a group of friends from the ETL gym are taking on the course for youngster Arabella Kelly who has an inoperable brain tumour.
