A Whitehaven singer songwriter has seen her new single listed among renowned artists including Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi.

Zoe Warren’s latest song, ‘Greedy’ reached number 18 in the singer songwriter charts on iTunes the day it was released, ranking alongside the famous musicians.

“It’s really cool. I’m pleased it’s doing really well,” Zoe said.

The 26-year-old said she wrote the piano ballad with the help of fellow local musician, Lee Shackley, after dreaming it up one night. A music video has been filmed by Tom Salmon.

Zoe said: “I wrote it in a dream. I woke up and I had dreamt about this song and ended up writing it. I wrote it in my sleep.

“That’s the first time it’s happened. It’s interesting, really. Usually I’m awake when I’m writing. It has been an interesting process. It’s good.”

The former Whitehaven School pupil said the song was about somebody who felt unhappy about life, despite all the things they have to feel positive about.

“It’s about somebody who doesn’t feel happy in themselves. They just don’t feel ok even though they have got all these positive things in their life.

“That’s something everybody can relate to at some point in their lives.”

Zoe released her own album, ‘Fairytales’, in 2015. Her last single, ‘Hurricane’, made it to number three on the iTunes country music charts.

When she’s not performing, Zoe enjoys working as a stage manager and organising music events at Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven.

Speaking about her future music plans, Zoe said: “I have got lots of songs written and demos. I’m quite enjoying releasing a single now and again and teasing people that way.

“I quite like writing for other people as well. It would be quite good to collaborate with other local artists.”
