Soundwave wants everyone to join their new choir and sing their hearts out, whether they're a natural superstar or just love to carry a tune while carrying out housework.

The music charity is inviting everyone who is 19-years-old and up to come along to their latest group, taking place every Wednesday evening in Whitehaven.

Following the success of their Workington Community Choir, also for older singers, the Soundwave team chose to set up DisChord Vocal Group, and as long as you have a passion for singing, you're welcome to go along.

Project coordinator, Emma Dockeray, can't wait for the group's first meeting on Wednesday, September 11, and said: "There are no requirements, no tests – as long as you're passionate about making music, that's all that's required.

"Just because you're older doesn't mean you can't enjoy singing anymore."

Emma will be hosting the sessions, playing the guitar, teaching the choir new songs, and getting involved with performances.

And she had a few more words for those feeling a little stage fright already: "There's no need to feel like you won't be good enough – take the leap and jump, and come along!"

"I'm an absolute clown, and it's a relaxed, supportive environment, so it'll be really fun and not scary at all."

But if performing doesn't sound good to you, no problem, as Emma loves watching members lead the sessions.

"If they want to put on shows and perform, that's great, and if they just want to come along to the choir but not perform, that's cool too," she said.

The choir will meet every Wednesday at St Peter's Community Hall from 7pm until 8:30pm. Entry to the charity's group costs £2.50 per week.
