AN EXCITING new restaurant is about to pop-up near Cockermouth, giving the dinners a chance to sample a special meal cooked in a teepee.
The unusual restaurant will be part of Taste Cumbria and offers an exclusive dining experience sat in the parkland surrounding a historic Georgian mansion, just outside Cockermouth.
Ben Wilkinson, head chef of 3 AA Rosette The Cottage in the Wood at Whinlatter near Keswick, will play host and cook a staggering six-course taster menu for two very intimate lunchtime sittings on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 – just 20 guests will be able to dine at each one.
The event is planned to follow on from the Taste Cumbria food festival which will start on the Friday in the town’s market and main street.
There will a full market of small artisan businesses and the night will turn in to a street party with music and comedy overlapping from the day.
Ben said: “It’s very exciting to be involved with this event. We’ve got a really special menu planned with some of Cumbria’s best produce, a few of my favourite ingredients from further away, plus a couple of flavours from the forest around The Cottage.
“And who wouldn’t be excited about cooking in a tepee? I can’t wait.”
Tickets for the Taste Cumbria Pop-up Restaurant, cost £125 per person and are available now from www.visitallerdale.co.uk/things-to-do/taste-cumbria-cockermouth/
