People are being urged to come and have their say at the annual general meeting of the strategic body for business in Cumbria.

Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership will hold its AGM next month.

Cumbrian businesses, the public and those from the voluntary and community sector are being invited to the event which takes place on Friday September 27.

It will be held at Cumbria LEP’s conference and business centre, in Redhills, Penrith.

The event comes as discussions continue with the Government on Cumbria’s Local Industrial Strategy.

The strategy has been developed in consultation businesses, the LEP and other partners and maps out the county’s economic priorities through to the 2030s.

The event will open from 1.30pm with a networking lunch, with the formal AGM commencing at 2pm and closing at 4pm.

Cumbria LEP chair Lord Inglewood, said: “We warmly invite businesses, public, voluntary and community sector partners to attend the AGM, and indeed anyone who wants to know more about what we do and our future plans to boost Cumbria’s economy.

“It’s an opportunity for attendees to hear from the Board and the leadership team about our activities and achievements in the last 12 months, including an update on the development of the Local Industrial Strategy, the work of our strategy groups and sector panels and to hear about how we have developed Cumbria LEP and our team.

“There will also be plenty of opportunity to discuss future plans to work with our partners to take forward economic growth, productivity and prosperity for our businesses, people and communities in Cumbria, as well as a question and answer session offering the chance to ask questions of the board."
