A KESWICK choir has raised the roof after collecting more than £2,000 in memory of Sophie Airey.

Members of Committed 2 Rock held the event last month, named Sing for Sophie, in memory of Sophie, who took her own life at the age of 29 in December last year.

The sell-out show was supported by the Necessary Angel and Professional Wealth Management (Cumbria).

A total of £2,150 was raised for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity which her dad Andy, from the Eden Valley, has been supporting.

Cath Marcangelo, director of Committed 2 Rock, praised the efforts of her choir.

She said: “The singers put everything into this concert and although they’re not a big choir all their hard work and commitment paid off with an amazing concert .

“We raised more than £2,000 on the night and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Hazel Russell, who collected the cheque of on behalf of Papyrus added: “Each phone call to our helpline costs £5, so with this huge injection of money from Committed 2 Rock, we know we will save lives.”
