Shimmering costumes, a magic lamp and a flying carpet all featured in a musical extravaganza held at a Whitehaven primary school.

Year Two pupils at St James’ C of E Infant School performed the Disney classic Aladdin for family members at their end-of-year show.

Teachers Kim Powell and Joanne Cocksedge worked with children to bring the glittering performance to life.

Mrs Cocksedge said: “It was fantastic to see the children grow in confidence over the weeks of rehearsals. They put on a brilliant show and really grew in confidence.”

Headteacher Michael Craig said: “We really want to develop a love of the arts within our children and it was clear from the final show, that we have achieved this. The children should feel very proud of their performance, it was fantastic.”
