Train passengers are being warned to check before they travel as the weather is causing major disruption on the network.
There is currently minor disruption on the Leeds to Carlisle line, with delays of more than 20 minutes reported on the Settle line.
This is due to a fault on the train.
Carlisle to Newcastle services are also delayed, with passengers facing arrival times of up to 30 minutes later than expected.
Northern says that trains are not currently stopping at Haltwhistle, Hexham, Prudhoe and the Metrocentre.
A broken down train is causing these problems.
Other problems include:
- All lines are blocked at Blackpool North due to a fault with the signalling service. Train services running to and from the station will be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes. The problems have been caused by lighting damaging the signalling system.
- Trains between Manchester Airport and Barrow are either cancelled or delayed due to a fault on the train.
