A six-year-old girl needed hospital treatment after being struck by a vehicle.
Police were called to the collision near to Orton Stores, on Orton Road, Carlisle, at about 12.05pm yesterday.
The child, who locals say was riding a scooter, was hit by the vehicle being driven by a woman.
Both police and ambulance paramedics attended and the girl was taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary to be checked.
She is not said to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police had no further details of the vehicle involved or the driver.
