Whitehaven Rotary Club has ushered in a new president to lead them forward.
Dr Ronnie Proudfoot took over from Mike Reid in a ceremony at Moresby Hall. Mr Reid had served two years in the role after the sudden death of vice-president Geoff Evans.
And it was a special night for Dr Proudfoot who also received a certificate honouring his 25 years of service.
It was not the only accolade on the night. Rachel Holliday was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for her leadership at Calderwood House which provides accommodation to the homeless.
The award, named after Rotary’s founder, is usually given to Rotarians but, as on this occasion, it can be awarded to a non-Rotarian for special recognition.
Previous Whitehaven Rotary president Donald Dixon was awarded a certificate for 55 years of membership.
