A trio of youngsters from Kells have been snapped up on scholarship deals by Super League giants Wigan Warriors.

Sam Fulton, Ashton Sice and Sam Murtagh, who all play for Kells’ under-14 side have signed deals for the 2020 season.

The teenagers will now travel down to Wigan and begin their journey to hopefully progress through the ranks and pull on the coveted cherry and white jersey.

Former Wigan great Mick Cassidy, now head of youth at the club said: “These three lads have been chosen to be part of our scholarship program for 2020.

“They are outstanding prospects who have shown excellent attitude in the games we have watched them play.

“Not only are they excellent players, they are likeable lads who have shown a determination to succeed in the toughest of environments.

“At Wigan we know there is a wealth of talent in Cumbria and I am sure these three lads will be representing Wigan at the DW in the future.”

As well as turning out for the Wigan scholarship, all three will still be able to turn out for Kells in their respective age groups.
