Copeland has been named in the top 10 most affordable places to buy a home - according to national research.

Burnley came out on top as the best place to buy a house, with the net salary available totting up to a 10 per cent mortgage deposit in just 4.7 months, providing the quickest, most affordable foot on the ladder when considering the wage available.

Copeland came sixth in the list, behind second placed Pendle in Lancashire at 5.1 months, with East Ayrshire in Scotland, Hyndburn and County Durham all home to a net salary that would total a 10 per cent mortgage deposit in 5.3 months.

Copeland, Hartlepool, Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent and West Dunbartonshire make the top 10 at 5.9 months or below.

Managing Director of One77 Mortgages who did the research, Alastair McKee, said: “Of course, the wage on offer and the price of property is relative to each area and you still need to account for the cost of living, but this research highlights where you have the best opportunity of saving a deposit and getting on the ladder in the shortest space of time."
