TWO major refurbishments of the National Trust’s facility blocks at Great Langdale and Wasdale Campsites have just been completed.

At Great Langdale, the work completes the final phase of refurbishment which began in the winter of 2017, while in Wasdale, the facility block upgrade is part of the first phase of investment to improve visitor facilities in the valley.

Sustainable building materials have been used - the Burlington slate floor is quarried from Kirby-in-Furness, just 20 miles from Great Langdale Campsite and the bold toilet doors at Great Langdale are made from recycled plastic supplied by the AAZTEC, Recycloo range.

This upgrade means campers can also enjoy the look and feel of locally sourced materials and modern features such as the energy-efficient sensor-controlled LED lights, underfloor heating and improved insulation. At Great Langdale the hot water is also provided by a biomass boiler.

Wasdale campsite now has an added family bathroom, a newly adapted WC and shower room as well as an indoor pot wash and drying room.

Jane Saxon, General Manager for the Lake District Holidays portfolio, said: "We’re really grateful that campers have been patient over the winter.

"We’re committed to providing top quality, comfortable and environmentally-friendly facilities for our visitors so that they can enjoy all the world heritage site has to offer. Every pitch booked means that we can do even more to look after the Lakes, so investing for the future and keeping our campers happy is our key aim."

Both Great Langdale and Wasdale Campsites are open year round offering tent pitches, pods and space for campervans with electric hook up.
