A WORKINGTON teenager who entered the Miss Teen Great Britain contest to raise awareness of grief support, following the death of her mother, has made it through to the competition final and is looking for sponsorship.

Shania Wilson, 19, from Salterbeck, lost her mother, Lynne Wilson, when she died of a sudden heart attack aged only 38. She then started her own campaign #grievingtogether to let people know that they are not alone in grief.

She said: “I’ve been given a place in the grand final, I just need to find a sponsor now to cover the £350 sponsor fee. It does not have to come from one sponsor, it can come from multiple. I can make appearances for that company and on the night of the final their company name will be given out on stage, they will be given the chance to give leaflets and any promotion out and will be involved in the programme.”

Shania has been given the title of ‘Miss Teen West Cumbria 2019’ which she will get officially in addition to her sash when her sponsorship is paid. If anyone would like to sponsor Shania they can contact her by Facebook at Shania Wilson Miss Teen Great Britain Semi Finalist 2019.

Fundraising for the competition includes a half marathon at Carlisle, a quiz night and music nights. The final will be held in Blackpool in October.
