Trains are once again running between Carlisle and Lockerbie following major rail disruption.
A fallen tree at Floriston, south of Gretna, pulled down overhead electric cables yesterday afternoon.
It resulted in all trains between England and Scotland being cancelled.
But Virgin Trains has now confirmed that the problems have been fixed and trains through Carlisle are running as normal this morning.
A statement said: "Disruption caused by damage to overhead wires between Carlisle and Lockerbie has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem."
Yesterday's disruption affected the West Coast Main Line, including Virgin, Transpennine Express and Scotrail services.
However the East Coast Main Line was also closed after a person was hit by a train, meaning passengers had no alternative rail route.
It resulted in major delays and disruption, with many having to take taxis or abandon their trips.
Platforms at Carlisle Railway Station were packed with passengers who had nowhere to go.
Many waited hours for buses and taxis, with traffic backing up across Carlisle.
Virgin says that those affected are likely to be entitled to compensation.
It said: "For delays of 30 mins or more, please claim Delay Repay compensation."
