A painting valued at £1,000 was stolen during a popular music festival.

It happened at Eden Festival at Raehills, near Lockerbie.

The painting, depicting the story of Tam O' Shanter, was stolen from the Tavern Bar, which was set up at the festival.

It was taken sometime between Friday and Saturday.

Dumfries and Galloway Police are appealing for information.

Constable Fiona Sword said: "The painting was screwed to the wall, was in a mahogany wooden frame and is about 36" x 17" in size.

"When last valued, the painting was worth in the region of £1000.

"Clearly the Tavern Bar was a busy place during the Eden Festival and we are appealing to anyone with any information about this theft to call police on the 101 number."
