A NURSE and a supermarket worker said: 'I do' in an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family.

Jeffrey Hipolito, 34, a staff nurse at a nursing home and 32-year-old Ryan Hipolito, a section leader at Asda, celebrated their love by getting married at The Olde Mill in Bardsea.

The couple met online and met in person for the first time when Jeff came to Barrow in the last week of March last year.

Ryan described how nervous he was to meet Jeff’s flat mate for the first time.

He said: “We met a few times then I started walking Jeff to work.

"Then he asked me if I wanted to start going around to his flat to meet his flat mate and I was very nervous."

One of the traits that stood out for Ryan was mostly Jeff's personality and charm.

Ryan said: “The first year together has been fun.

"We have had such a laugh together and we have learnt a lot about ourselves and each other”.

On the couple’s days off they would go for walks so that Ryan could show Jeff around Barrow, as well as around Carlisle to show him different parts of Cumbria.

A year later the couple decided to tie the knot.

The proposal was a mutual decision between the two of them, meaning no-one got down on one knee.

Ryan said: “The proposal was here in Barrow.

“We said, ‘why don’t we get married’, so we decided to do it as we didn’t want a long engagement.”

The couple planned to have an intimate ceremony so when they went to The Olde Mill they instantly liked it so booked it.

Ryan said he could not sleep properly the week before the wedding as he was nervous about everything running smoothly.

They had 29 guests at their day celebration, described by Ryan as having “a wonderful atmosphere full of love in the room.”

He said: “We would say our best moment was Clare taking photos of us on the beach.

"She was fabulous and kept us laughing all day.

"Helen, who owns the olde mill, said John Travolta has nothing on me with my dance moves.

“I would like to say the guys at The Olde Mill made it very special for us. The music we had to walk in was Something Inside So Strong which made me emotional as my nan used to sing it to us when we were kids.”

The wedding breakfast consisted of vegetable soup, followed by roast beef and three mini desserts.

In the evening, they had pizzas, burgers and sausage buns.

After the wedding, the couple had a mini honeymoon in Edinburgh, however, they have booked a cruise next year around the Mediterranean for their first anniversary.

The couple would like to thank everyone who attended to make their day so special. Ryan said: “We would like to thank Helen and Martin and the team at The Olde Mill."

The Olde Mill offers private functions overlooking the shores of Morecambe Bay, creating a bespoke package for couples. You can learn more about The Olde Mill by clicking here.

They would also like to say a ‘big thank you’ to Ryan’s mum and dad Julie and Vic for all the support.
