Two people were taken to hospital and a pet dog rescued after a house fire broke out in Workington overnight.
The blaze happened at a property on Hillcrest, Workington.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze at 4.44am today, Monday, May 20, and four fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven and Maryport attended.
The occupants of the house had escaped the fire before crews arrived but firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze and rescue the family pet.
They were on the scene for about two hours and 15 minutes.
North West Ambulance Service treated two people at the scene and took them to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
It is not thought that either person was seriously hurt.
The roof of the property was seriously damaged in the fire.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated but a spokesman for Cumbria police said it was not believed to be suspicious.
