Lowes Court Gallery's next feature wall will show paintings in oils by gallery members Marion McBurnie and Tetian Scott.

The gallery, at Egremont, will feature the works in an exhibition during June.

Marion McBurnie qualified in art at Blackpool university, and will be shown alongside works by Tetiana Scott, who is originally from the Ukraine.

A spokesman for the gallery said: "Marion McBurnie covers a wide range of subject matter, including landscapes, townscapes, still life and portraiture.

"Her work is always distinctive, painted in an energetic manner with vigorous brushwork and an uplifting use of colour."

Having been inspired to draw and paint as a primary school child, Marion said: "my expertise lies in my use of colour – I consider my paintings to be uplifting and I hope that people will enjoy looking at them.

"It is a joy and an education to share the feature wall with someone from a different part of the world."

In a contrast of styles Tetiana Scott produces landscape work that is more illustrative in approach.

Her main themes include depiction of light, weather and the seasons, such as the golden tones of late evening, or sunlight breaking through surf on a local beach.

The exhibition will run until July 2 and the gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 10am to 1.30pm and Thursday and Friday 10am to 4pm.

Locally produced arts and crafts, including paintings, prints, cards, glassware, jewellery and wood are also available at Lowes Court.
