A BOAT, carrying six people, overturned in the water off Parton on Monday night.
Whitehaven Coastguard attended the callout.
A spokesman said: “The team, kitted up in water rescue gear, made to the scene and established that there were around six persons in or just out of the water as they attempted to pull the vessel ashore. With a bit of muscle the vessel was righted and pulled from the water, safely ashore and secured to stop it refloating at a later date.”
Coastguard crews gave safety advice to the those onboard the boat about the use of life jackets.
Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team and Workington Lifeboat were also called out, but stood down en route.
