There was a holy unexpected sight for motorists when a sign for "Whiteheaven" appeared on the roads.
Diversion signs are being put up around the A595 Distington bypass while roadworks are carried out.
But sign-makers had a funny spell when producing one for the A66 at Ramsay Brow in Workington, as they referred to Whitehaven as Whiteheaven.
However, it was a case of paradise lost as Highways England said the sign would soon to be replaced.
A spokesman said that hundreds of signs are produced each year to help drivers negotiate road works and sometimes errors can be made.
He added: "We’d like to thank drivers for pointing this particular mistake out which appears to be a simple stray ‘e’. The sign will removed and replaced with the correct spelling as soon as possible."
