Firefighters were called to another fire in the open in Whitehaven.

The crew was deployed to Woodhouse Road at about 8pm on Tuesday.

They used hose reels, beaters and water backpacks to extinguish the fire.

It was the fourth fire in the open in the area in as many days and the latest in the county which has kept firefighters on their toes during the warmer weather.

On Saturday, multiple crews spent two-and-a-half hours tackling a heathland blaze at Plumpton, between Carlisle and Penrith, and three hours at a fire at a farm near Wigton.
