A man has been rescued from a house fire in Carlisle.

Crews from Carlisle east and west fire station, were called just after 8.30am today to reports of a house fire on Cant Cresent, off Upperby Road.

A spokesman from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival crews discovered a small kitchen fire and used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and to rescue one male from the property."

No further information regarding the man has been released.

Crews were at the scene 50 minutes.
