Firefighters were called to a crash involving a car and a lorry near Carlisle.
Three crews - from the Carlisle east, west and Longtown stations - attended the incident in Houghton at 10.20pm yesterday.
They used cutting equipment to release the car driver from the car.
A team from the North West Ambulance Service arrived and took over care of the driver.
No further details are known about the condition of the driver involved.
