Two people remain in hospital today following a crash which closed a busy junction on the A595.

The collision, which involved two vehicles happened on the Lillyhall roundabout, near Dobies Garage.

The driver of the Vauxhall Combo, a 29-year old man from Workington, and his passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Carlisle, were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

A police spokeswoman said today: "They both remain in hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.

"The driver of the Volkswagen Tiguan, a 24-year-old woman from west Cumbria, received minor injuries."

The crash happened at about 5.10pm and the junction was closed in both directions while emergency services attended the scene and the road was made safe, including clearing fuel from the road.
