More than 200 bikers and a host of generous supporters helped make Whitehaven Motorcycle Action Group's Easter egg ride a big success.

The riders gathered at Keswick's Central car park to begin their annual spring charity ride on Sunday.

The group stopped off at Mitchells Auction Mart in Cockermouth, Lidl in Maryport and Tesco in Workington on their way to Whitehaven's harbourside.

Generous donors along the route handed over more than 400 eggs, and wellwishers stood on the streets of Maryport and Workington to wave as the bikes drove by.

Eggs were also donated by Spar in Maryport, and Tesco.

Representatives of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, Age UK West Cumbria and Footsteps, which is based at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, met organisers at the end of the ride to pick up the eggs to hand out.

Anne Crayston, local representative for the motorcycle action group, said: "Thank you to everybody who has supported us, to Tesco and Spar for donating eggs, and to all the bikers who came along. It was very much appreciated."
