Whitehaven Sea Cadets hosted a visit by Rob McBride at their unit.

Mr McBride is a director of One AIM and a former member of the Royal Horse Artillery.

He visited the cadets to present various awards and speak about his life in the army.

His company recently made a donation of £1,000 to the Whitehaven unit and he was pleased to accept an invitation to have a look round. He spent the first part of the evening inspecting the ship's company and presenting a number of certificates and rank advancements.

Mr McBride then spent time speaking with the volunteer staff before joining cadets for an informal talk about his life and extensive experiences in the Royal Horse Artillery.

“It was a pleasure for me to accept the invitation to visit and learn more about the opportunities that Sea Cadets are able to offer our young people,” said Rob.

“I was hugely impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone I met, from the youngest cadet through to the longest-serving member of the staff team, and I am delighted that we, as a company, are able to support them.”

Speaking after his visit the unit chairman, David Abbott expressed his thanks to One AIM. “The donation, which has been given to help with our running costs, is a huge boost for us and we would like to record our sincere thanks to everyone at OneAIM," he said.
