A CARLISLE man has been arrested following a crash on the A66.
Police were called shortly after 3.30pm to a four vehicle crash on the A66 at Bridgefoot in Workington.
The incident involved a Range Rover, BMW X1 and Mercedes CLA and a Ford Focus.
The road was closed in both directions but has now reopened.
Driving the Range Rover was a 37-year-old man from Liverpool, he was not injured.
The injuries of the BMW driver, a 81-year-old man, and a 79-year-old woman passenger from Cockermouth, are unknown at this time.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 37-year-old man from Keswick, was not injured in the crash.
Also uninjured was the 36-year-old driver of the Ford.
A 36-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being over the drug drive limit while behind the wheel of a car.
Police say the arrest is unconnected to the circumstances of the collision.
